I am a 1st year Masters student at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), pursuing MS in Electrical and Computer Enginnering (ECE). I completed my Bachelors In CSE with honors and a minor in AI/ML from Indian Institute of Information Technology Sri City. I am a researcher and a learner. My interests are Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Social Computing, and Computer Vision. I am passionate about research in the aforementioned fields. I believe that grit, tenacity, and determination are my biggest strengths.
I am working as a researcher at the PathCheck Foundation advised by Dr. Ramesh Raskar. At PathCheck, I work on COVID-19 outbreak prediction, ML for digital contact tracing, and writing survey papers related to vaccine and testing challenges. I have been fortunate to be advised by Dr. Amitava Das throughout my undergraduate studies. Under his guidance, I worked on aggression, hate-speech, and misogyny detection in social media. I hope this work takes a step towards making social media a safer place for women and minorities. I also worked on sentiment analysis of code-mixed tweets and COVID-19 fake news detection. Previously I interned at Hike Messenger where I worked on clustering semantically similar chat messages to improve sticker recommendation.
I was the President and Founder of Epoch, which is the AIML club at IIITS. At Epoch, we give talks on ML topics, conduct paper reading sessions, hands-on tutorials, organize hackathons, workshops, and paper reading sessions. We also take efforts to encourage female participation in our events.
I like to read fiction (thrillers, mystery, fantasy, drama) and sometimes non-fiction. I have been playing chess for almost 10 years. Earlier I used to play professional chess, now I play it for fun. Currently, I am learning to play the guitar. I love to travel to and explore new destinations. I also enjoy watching cricket, trekking, running, and adventure sports.
